WHAT:

THE DIVINE

Above all and eventhing

Across the turning of centuries, there have arisen certain mortals set apart from their own kind—men and women whose lives bore the weight of unseen favor. Some were watched over by the hand of the Divine, others safeguarded by the solemn decree of the Overlords of the Underworld.

Their blood was never to be spilled in sacrifice or rage; their will was not to be bent by sorcery or shadow; no harm was to touch them by forces beyond the natural world. Such was the covenant sealed over their lineage, as though the threads of their existence were too tightly woven into the pattern of things to be severed.

Among these guarded lines stands the House of Basarab, its name carried forward beneath this ancient protection—a bloodline spared by both Heaven and the dark realm alike, destined to carve its mark upon the pages of history.

It is whispered that the earth itself recoils from the spilling of their blood, for in that crimson tide sleeps the echo of older promises yet unbroken.

The Grigori

Some men inherit kingdoms; Basarab I forged one from defiance. I remember him before the chroniclers crowned him the founder of Wallachia, when he was little more than a warlord whose resolve proved stronger than the armies sent to break him. Against kings, steel, and impossible odds, he secured the freedom of his people and planted the first roots of a dynasty whose branches would spread across centuries, giving rise to noble houses and shaping the fate of Eastern Europe. Yet those who praise only the sovereign have mistaken the man for the legend.

There are older records, sealed beneath leather and stone, that speak of another inheritance. They whisper of Dacianne, the All-Seer, and of a bond forged not merely in love, but in prophecy—a union from which a hidden bloodline may have emerged beyond the sight of history. Whether those pages preserve truth or heresy, I have never revealed. I know only this: the greatest legacy Basarab left behind was not the kingdom he founded, but the blood that endured after him. And somewhere between crown and shadow, that blood began its long journey toward a name the world would one day fear above all others: Dracula.

Deities

Deities

Before gods were worshipped,

they were already watching

There was an age when the Deities walked openly among mankind, and the boundary between the mortal and the immortal was but a single step. Across the ancient world, from windswept mountains and sacred groves to marble cities and forgotten islands, kings and shepherds alike beheld gods and demigods with their own eyes. Great temples were raised in their honor, altars burned with incense and sacrifice, and tribute was offered for abundant harvests, calm seas, victory in battle, and countless blessings bestowed upon those who remained in their favor. Yet the Deities were not the Divine itself. Though mighty beyond mortal measure, they were beings of immense power rather than absolute perfection, possessing virtues and flaws much like humanity. They loved and hated, forgave and punished, inspired and deceived. Above them all stood the Divine—the Eternal Source of Creation—unchanging, incorruptible, and perfect in truth, justice, and goodness, from whom every lesser power ultimately drew its existence.

When mankind grew prosperous, many forgot the gifts they had received and rebelled against the very powers they had once revered. Temples were desecrated, sacred covenants abandoned, and the voices of the Deities answered with mockery instead of reverence. Seeing that humanity desired a world ruled by its own ambition, the gods withdrew beyond the veil, leaving the earth to an age without their presence. Only then did mankind understand the weight of their absence, as blessings once taken for granted faded into memory and the ancient sanctuaries fell silent. Among the holiest relics preserved from that vanished age is the consecrated soil gathered from the very ground once trodden by the Deities. Sealed within the Temple of Earth, Terra Mater, it remains a sacred testament that the immortals once walked beside humankind, and that their footsteps have not yet been erased by time.

Minor Deities

Born of nature, bound to the world

Long before the rise of kingdoms or the first temples of stone, the Elementals dwelt within the hidden places of the world, born from Creation itself and forever bound to its forests, rivers, mountains, and untamed wilds. They were the First Children of Nature, entrusted with the stewardship of the Four Sacred Elements—Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind—and charged with preserving the harmony upon which all living things depend. Unlike the Deities, they neither sought worship nor accepted tribute, choosing instead to remain unseen beyond the reach of mortal civilization. Among their kind are the graceful Nymphs, guardians of ancient springs, crystal lakes, sacred groves, and forgotten glades, together with countless elusive forest inhabitants whose names have faded into legend. Hidden within the Four Elemental Temples that encircle the Forbidden Forest, they answer only to the ancient laws of Creation, watching in silence as kingdoms rise and fall around them.

Unlike the Children of the Night, whose existence is bound to the awakening of V, the Elementals belong to an older covenant, untouched by the ambitions of kings or the corruption of darkness. They are neither benevolent nor cruel, but impartial custodians of the natural order, protecting the balance between life and decay with unwavering devotion. As mankind spread across the world, fear and greed drove these ancient beings ever deeper into the wilderness, where enchantments older than memory conceal their sanctuaries from mortal eyes. Few have entered those sacred domains and returned unchanged, for to behold an Elemental is to glimpse the living spirit of Creation itself. Though forgotten by most, they continue their eternal vigil, waiting in the silent heart of the world until the day the ancient covenant is once more called upon to preserve what remains of Creation.

Saints

The Church remembers their miracles.
The Unseen remembers their power.

Here's a codex-style entry that mirrors the tone and structure of the Deities and Elementals. Unlike the Deities, who were born to power, the Saints were born to humanity. They were ordinary men and women who, through unwavering faith, selfless sacrifice, and steadfast obedience to the Divine, became vessels of a higher purpose. They sought neither glory nor dominion, but devoted their lives to healing the sick, comforting the broken, defending the innocent, and bearing hope into a world consumed by fear. Wherever they walked, the afflicted found relief, the despairing discovered courage, and the hardened hearts of sinners were stirred toward repentance. Through them the Divine worked openly, restoring sight to the blind, strength to the weak, and peace to troubled souls, not by their own power, but through the grace entrusted to them.

Their miracles were never displays of greatness, but signs pointing beyond themselves to the perfect will of the Divine. Yet no Saint was crowned without first embracing suffering, for the path of holiness has always been marked by sacrifice. Many endured exile, persecution, imprisonment, and martyrdom, offering their lives willingly rather than forsake the truth entrusted to them. Their wounds became testimonies, their blood sanctified the ground upon which it was spilled, and their deaths transformed kingdoms more profoundly than the victories of armies. For the Divine does not redeem the world through conquest, but through love freely given and suffering willingly endured. Though their earthly lives came to an end, their witness did not perish with them. It endures wherever faith overcomes fear, mercy triumphs over hatred, and hope is reborn amid despair, reminding every generation that the greatest power granted to mankind is not the power to rule, but the power to sacrifice for a purpose greater than oneself.

Mages

Mages

Knowledge is their inheritance.
The unknown is their domain.

The Mages are seekers of wisdom, devoted to the disciplined study of the hidden laws woven into Creation since the beginning of time. Unlike Warlocks, who bend those same forces through pacts, ambition, or forbidden arts, Mages believe that true power is neither possessed nor commanded, but understood. Their knowledge is preserved within ancient libraries, forgotten monasteries, and secluded academies where generations have devoted their lives to mastering the mysteries of nature, the heavens, and the unseen world. Though capable of remarkable feats, a Mage does not create miracles, nor does he wield divine authority. His art is born of knowledge, patience, and discipline, allowing him to perceive and employ the natural order without violating it. For this reason, the greatest among them are revered not for the power they command, but for the wisdom with which they choose to restrain it.

Neither holy nor divine, the Mages nevertheless have often been entrusted with sacred responsibilities when wisdom proved more valuable than the sword. Throughout history they have served as guardians of ancient relics, keepers of forgotten prophecies, advisers to righteous rulers, and companions to saints and kings alike in times of great peril. They wage no war for dominion, nor do they seek the reverence reserved for the Divine, yet many have willingly accepted burdens that demanded the sacrifice of reputation, comfort, and even life itself for the greater good. In every age when darkness has threatened to unmake the order of Creation, there have been those among the Mages who answered not to ambition, but to conscience, walking the narrow path between knowledge and humility, where wisdom becomes the greatest weapon against the shadows.
