Time is among the oldest laws of Creation, written long before kingdoms were raised or the first stars were named. It is a decree from which neither mortal nor immortal has ever been granted exemption. Even those who proclaim themselves masters of the world discover, sooner or later, that they remain subjects to its silent dominion.
There is a beginning, and there is an end. There is what has been, what now is, and—should fortune or providence allow—what is yet to come. Every life is measured by these unseen boundaries, each moment surrendered to the next with quiet and unrelenting certainty.
Yet there have always been keepers of forgotten disciplines who dared to speak otherwise. They taught that Time is not a river, but an ocean without shores; that all moments—those long past, those still unborn, and those we mistake for the present—exist together beyond the narrow reach of mortal perception. To them, history was not a sequence, but a vast tapestry whose every thread was woven at once, hidden only by the limitations of those who observed it.
These same masters wrote of beings whose existence belongs to realms beyond language and reason—entities that drift effortlessly between worlds, passing through the currents of time as a traveler walks from one chamber into the next. To such beings, centuries would be no heavier than a single breath.
Whether these accounts reveal profound truth or merely the dreams of minds that gazed too long into the abyss, I cannot say. I have lived through empires, watched dynasties rise from dust and return to it, and still I possess too little certainty to speak with conviction on matters that stand beyond even immortality.
What I know is simpler, and perhaps more terrible.
There was a world before a single life altered the course of Creation.
And there has been another ever since.
The dividing line between them was marked not by the birth of an empire nor the fall of a kingdom, but by the brief mortal existence of the last God who walked the earth amongst mortals and live as one of them to soon die upon a cross.
The oldest memories are seldom measured in years, but in the moments that divided eternity into before and after.

At the height of Roman civilization, as marble cities stretched across Europe, North Africa, and the Near East, history reached its defining moment. Roads united continents, commerce flourished, and the Roman Empire appeared destined to endure forever. Yet within a small province of Judea, events unfolded that would reshape the spiritual and cultural destiny of the world.
The birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ became the great dividing line of history. His life transformed calendars, kingdoms, and civilizations, marking the beginning of a new era whose influence would reach every corner of the known world. From this point forward, time itself would be measured differently, and the course of human history would never again follow the same path.

The centuries following the fall of Rome witnessed the collapse of an ancient world and the birth of another. Imperial roads faded beneath encroaching forests, magnificent temples fell into ruin, and Europe's once-great cities gave way to isolated villages, fortified monasteries, and towering castles. It was an age of uncertainty, where kingdoms rose and vanished, faith became the anchor of civilization, and countless mysteries lingered beyond the edges of the known world.
It is within this shadowed medieval landscape that V the First begins. The fourteenth century stands upon the threshold of profound change—a world scarred by famine, plague, war, and political upheaval, yet still filled with wonder and hidden truths. Behind the chronicles of kings and the records of the Church lies another history, concealed in forgotten forests, abandoned ruins, and whispered legends. Here, history and myth become inseparable, and the unseen world quietly awakens.

The Dyad is the rarest and most sacred bond known among warlocks. Born when twin brothers inherit the blood of Cain, they share a connection so profound that each becomes the other's greatest source of strength, their magic intertwined as though they were two halves of a single soul. Yet within this extraordinary union lies the seed of inevitable tragedy, for the same ancient blood that binds them in perfect harmony will, in time, compel one to destroy the other. Thus, the Dyad stands as both the highest expression of brotherhood and the cruelest curse ever woven into the lineage of warlocks.

The fourteenth century descended upon Europe like the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy, cloaking kingdoms in shadow and turning the continent into a vast cathedral of mourning. Famine hollowed the land, kingdoms trembled beneath endless war, and pestilence swept across nations with the relentless certainty of divine judgment. It was as though an unseen hand had cast a terrible curse over the world, leaving no throne, village, or soul untouched by its passing. Bells tolled without end, prayers vanished into silent heavens, and hope itself seemed to wither beneath gathering storm clouds.
Countless lives were swallowed by the darkness, their names carried away like ashes upon the wind, until the dead outnumbered the living and the old world stood upon the brink of oblivion. Yet beneath the ruin of empires and the lament of mankind, something far older stirred within the forgotten depths of Creation. While history recorded only famine, plague, and war, unseen forces awakened beyond the sight of mortal eyes. And in that dreadful hour, when Europe bled beneath the weight of its own suffering, the All-Mother opened her eyes.
