HOLY & DIVINE

THE DIVINE
The Eternal Light Behind the Veil
In the shadowed balance of the world, where men and the Children of the Night contend in an endless struggle, there remains another presence—quieter, seldom seen, yet no less enduring. For where malice takes root, so too does a hidden purity, ancient as the first dawn and patient as the turning of the heavens.
Bound by laws older than kingdoms, most of these beings are forbidden from altering the course of mortal lives. They observe, they remember, and they endure. Yet there are those who, in quiet defiance or sacred obedience, choose to intervene. They mend the broken when no hand is near, whisper direction to the lost, or remain unseen beside a grieving soul, offering a love that neither seeks reward nor leaves its name behind.
At times they reveal themselves in forms too radiant to be mistaken. At others, they pass unnoticed through crowded streets and forgotten villages, clothed in the ordinary features of men and women. The faithful call them saints. The learned speak of mages. Others know them only as strangers whose presence lingers long after they have departed. Their true nature belongs to mysteries older than memory, and no language has yet named them completely.
Yet the Divine is not confined to celestial messengers or holy souls. Much that is sacred lies beyond the understanding of both mankind and the Underworld alike. It answers to laws that neither king nor Overlord can command.
There are divine forces woven into Creation itself—the wind that levels forests, the sea that swallows kingdoms, the fire that purifies as readily as it consumes, the rain that grants life before delivering the flood. They are neither benevolent nor cruel. They know nothing of mercy and nothing of hatred. They simply fulfill the nature for which they were first spoken into existence.
Perhaps this is the greatest misunderstanding of mortals. They imagine the Divine to be synonymous with goodness, and the infernal with wickedness. Yet Creation has never been so simple. The lion bears no malice toward the gazelle, nor does the storm seek vengeance upon the mountain. Each acts according to its nature, and in so doing fulfills a law older than judgment itself. Only mankind insists that every force must possess a conscience. The oldest powers have never required one.

All-Mother

All-Mother
The Primal Matriach
She is the Primordial, a forgotten deity buried beneath the Forbidden Forest, the All-Mother is the origin of vampires, witches, and werewolves—an ancient being who dreams the balance of the world into existence. But when her slumber is disturbed by chaos in the waking world, she rises in a state of cosmic amnesia, unable to recognize her own children. Her awakening brings calamity and devastation upon mortals and immortals alike. Worshipped, feared, and misunderstood, she is both creator and destroyer—capable of reshaping reality through grief, rage, or memory.
The Grigori
The Grigori
The Eternal Watchers
The Grigoris, known to some as the Watchers, are among the oldest of the Divine Host—eternal sentinels entrusted with safeguarding the world shared by mankind and the Children of the Night. Their charge is neither to rule nor to judge, but to observe the unfolding of Creation and, when necessity demands, to gently incline the currents of fate toward balance. Ever watchful though seldom seen, they witness kingdoms rise and crumble, empires fade into dust, and generations pass like fleeting seasons beneath their silent gaze.
They perceive the intricate tapestry of destiny more clearly than any mortal mind, yet they remain bound by laws older than memory, forbidding all but the rarest intervention. They do not wage the battles of men nor spare the righteous from every sorrow, for their purpose is not to shield Creation from suffering but to preserve its harmony. Only when that harmony stands upon the very brink do the Watchers descend from their sacred distance, and even then their hand is so subtle that history seldom remembers they were ever present. Mistaken by some for angels and worshipped by others as forgotten gods, they are neither objects of devotion nor sovereigns of the world below, but faithful custodians of an order established long before the first prayer was ever spoken, for the greatest guardians are often those who leave no trace they were ever there.

Sabyrah
Sabyrah
Supreme of the Eternal Flame
Lady Sabyrah, born in 1111 AD to Ethiopian nobility, was the last High Priestess of the pagan Temple of the Sacred Fire—also known as the Southern Watchtower—one of the four great towers where the covens once stood as vigilant guardians of both the mortal and unseen realms. Renowned for her enigmatic beauty and legendary charm, she captivated all who beheld her, even stirring the heart of Mansa Musa, the wealthiest ruler of the Mali Empire, who lavished her with gifts and devotion. Yet Sabyrah’s allure remained untouchable, her affections fleeting, for her true path lay not in earthly unions but in the mysteries of the sacred and the unseen. From childhood, her unparalleled mastery over natural and hidden forces marked her as destined for greatness, elevating her to power as a revered spiritual guide whose wisdom transcended her years.

Dyonysus

Dyonysus
The God Who Ruled
Between Joy and Madness.
Born from both divinity and mortality, Dionysus was one of the most mysterious figures of the ancient world. Known as the God of Wine, Ecstasy, Theatre, and Transformation, he represented the untamed forces of nature and the hidden desires that dwell within the human soul. Unlike the gods who ruled through order and dominion, Dionysus embraced change, passion, and the freedom found beyond the boundaries of civilization. His followers gathered in secret rites, celebrating life, rebirth, and the connection between mortals and the divine. Yet as the ages passed and humanity turned away from the gods who had once guided and inspired them, the temples of Dionysus fell silent, his name became legend, and many of his followers vanished or were hunted by those who no longer understood the ancient ways. In the end, only fragments of his presence remained in the world—a fading echo of a forgotten age when gods walked among mortals, and only one nymph, Eurydice, remained as a final keeper of the memories of the Twice-Born God.
Eurydice
Eurydice
The Last Nymph
Lady Eurydice de Lorris, remembered in legend as the Last Nymph, carried with her from Greece a sapling of the sacred Star Magnolia tree, a relic of her divine bond with nature. With her will alone, she transformed barren soil into a lush and vibrant forest, laying the foundation for what would one day become the domain of the fabled Château Rouge. But her chosen sanctuary was already claimed by an ancient Revenant Lord, a being of immense power among the Children of the Night. To remain on the land she had consecrated, Eurydice was forced into a binding pact: the Revenant would raise a crimson castle of breathtaking Gothic majesty in her name, and in return, she would surrender her freedom.
Thus, Eurydice was condemned to dwell within the Château Rouge for the span of her near-eternal life, its beauty and splendor becoming both her gift and her prison. Within its scarlet halls, she wove an atmosphere of temptation and abandon, shaping a sanctuary where every desire could be indulged and no sin carried consequence beyond its walls. What had begun as a refuge born of divine grace and nature’s magic became instead a palace of decadence and shadows, the Château Rouge forever marked by the entwined legacies of the Last Nymph and the Revenant Lord who bound her there.

Maximus

Maximus
The Saint
Among the earliest guardians of the hidden truths of the world was Saint Maximus of Iuvavum, a revered bishop, scholar, and visionary whose name endured long after the fall of Rome. Known for his wisdom and unwavering faith, Maximus possessed a rare understanding of the unseen forces that moved beyond the perception of ordinary men. His visions warned of the coming collapse of the Roman order and foretold the rise of new powers that would reshape the world. Yet his teachings extended beyond prophecy; he believed that humanity stood between the realms of the divine and the unknown, and that knowledge, when guided by faith and discipline, could protect mankind from forces it could not comprehend. As the old world crumbled and the worship of ancient powers faded, his writings were preserved by those who followed his path, becoming the foundation of a secret tradition dedicated to studying the mysteries of creation, confronting darkness, and safeguarding the balance between the mortal and unseen realms. Through the centuries, the legacy of Saint Maximus became the cornerstone of the Order that carried his name.
Anne
Anne
The Courtesan
Around the year 1200, Anne was left as an infant at the doors of a nunnery in Marseilles. Raised within its cloisters, she grew under watchful eyes until, upon reaching womanhood, she became too old to remain without taking vows. Refusing a life she did not choose, she was cast out into the unforgiving streets. Alone, young, and disarmingly beautiful, she seemed destined for ruin, yet fate guarded her steps. Though danger lurked in every shadow, no hand ever touched her.
Ironically, it was within the walls of a brothel that she found refuge. There, men of wealth and power flocked from distant lands, not to claim her body, but to bask in her presence. They paid in gold for the sound of her laughter—an otherworldly melody that was said to soothe the soul and intoxicate the heart. No treasure, however, could purchase her touch.
What Anne herself did not yet know was that she was no ordinary orphan. Her bloodline was both dark and divine—the forbidden child of a mighty warlock and the last of the nymphs. A heritage that made her beauty unearthly, her laughter spellbinding, and her destiny far greater than the streets of Marseilles could ever contain.

Annette

Annette
Madame Baudalaire
Once the last spark of Nymph blood, she was led—when the glow of youth had already begun to wane—to the brooding Red Castle. There she was veiled in mystery and enthroned as La Madame du Château Rouge, Mistress of its crimson corridors. From that night forward, she abandoned the simplicity of her birth name and came to be known as Annette Baudelaire. Within those walls she commands the divine inheritance of her mother, the Last Nymph, weaving illusions into reality itself. Ageless, beautiful, and eternal, she reigns so long as she never crosses beyond the shadowed gates of the castle she now calls both her sanctuary and her prison.
