Creatures

The Breeds and Tribes

Long before the first stones of human kingdoms were laid, the earth belonged to others—creatures older than memory, born of shadow and moonlight. In V The First, their presence lingers just beyond the veil of sight: Revenants, the dark kin of bats who thrive on blood; Lycans, fierce as the wolves whose form they echo; witches who weave the elements and warlocks who are no mere male counterparts but solitary, territorial predators—cannibals shaped by darker instincts. All of them trace their lineage to a single ancient source: the All-Mother, the primal matriarch who dreamt them into being. Here, in these tales, the unseen world breathes again, reminding humankind that they were never alone.

Creatures of the Unseen

The Unseen Realm, or underworld, is inhabited by a myriad of creatures of different breeds: Witches who whisper to the elements, warlocks who bargain with shadows, Revenants cursed with immortal hunger, Lycans who prowl beneath the moon, Mages wielding forbidden arts, and Saints whose martyrdom burns brighter than steel. Together they weave a world where the march of history beats in step with the pulse of legend.

Familiars

The Familiars

In the chronicles of the old faiths, it is whispered that no witch walks the path of night unaccompanied. Where her shadow falls, another shadow moves beside her — a creature bound not by leash nor chain, but by pact. These are the Familiars, the lesser spirits of the dark, clothed in the shapes of beasts: cat with burning eyes, crow with whispering tongue, serpent coiled with venom, wolf whose hunger is endless.

Yet they are not mere animals. Behind their gaze smoulders an intelligence not of this world, patient and cruel. To the witch they are companions, confessors, guardians, and spies. To the unknowing, they are omens: the black cat that lingers at a threshold, the hound that howls at midnight, the bird that circles thrice and vanishes into mist.

The Codex warns that the Familiar is more than servant — it is also master. In feeding the witch power, it feeds also upon her, taking its due in blood, in memory, in soul. Some say that when a witch dies, the Familiar devours what remains, leaving behind only an empty husk. Others believe the Familiar lingers, waiting to bind itself to another mistress, a chain unbroken through centuries. Thus it is said: “Where you see the beast, beware the mistress. Where you see the mistress, beware the beast.”
