THE CODEX

The Bible of the Realms

Every legend, myth, and religion began as truth before time transformed it into belief.

The Codex is the hidden memory of the world, recording the ages that no one lives long enough to remember and no history dares to preserve.

Some believe that The Codex is an ancient manuscript—a collection of forgotten texts gathered across the centuries and preserved against the relentless march of time.

Yet even the most devoted scholars concede that no book, however vast, could contain the knowledge, memories, and experiences of every age since the dawn of life.
Others claim that  is not Others insist that The Codex was never written at all. They claim it is the name given to a sacred inheritance of wisdom passed from generation to generation through stories, teachings, and traditions.

Long before kingdoms rose, before chronicles were penned, its truths were carried in the minds and voices of those entrusted to remember.

A rarer belief speaks of The Codex as a place. Hidden beneath the ruins of a cursed land lies a forgotten sanctuary where the records of countless ages rest in silence. Some call it a library. Others, a temple. A few dare to call it the heart of memory itself.

The Codex

The Bible of
the Realms

The Codex of the Realm is the sacred chronicle and living archive of V The First—a compendium where myth, history, and prophecy converge. Said to have been first inscribed in the shadowed age following the All-Mother’s awakening, it was written in blood, ash, and memory by the first Revenant scribes, who sought to preserve the balance between the mortal and unseen worlds.

Within its boundless pages lie the genealogies of the Basarab line, the hidden laws of the Sacred Canons, the rise and fall of kingdoms, and the whispered secrets of the elemental Watchtowers. Each era adds new ink to its ever-growing script—every event, every soul, every act of betrayal or grace woven into the tapestry of the Realm.

To read the Codex is to touch eternity. To write within it is to alter destiny.

The People and much more...

In the realm of V The First, the boundaries between history and myth dissolve into one living chronicle. From the annals of Europe rise figures of flesh and crown—Basarab, the indomitable founder of his house; Prince Mircea, heir of Wallachia; the proud Princess Mara; and the line of Vlad II Dracul, whose blood would one day give the world Vlad III, called Dracula. Yet these lords and princes share their stage with beings older than thrones, drawn from the marrow of ancient lore: Witches who whisper to the elements, warlocks who bargain with shadows, Revenants cursed with immortal hunger, Lycans who prowl beneath the moon, Mages wielding forbidden arts, and Saints whose martyrdom burns brighter than steel. Together they weave a world where the march of history beats in step with the pulse of legend.

The Breeds and Tribes

Long before the first stones of human kingdoms were laid, the earth belonged to others—creatures older than memory, born of shadow and moonlight. In V The First, their presence lingers just beyond the veil of sight: Revenants, the dark kin of bats who thrive on blood; Lycans, fierce as the wolves whose form they echo; witches who weave the elements and warlocks who are no mere male counterparts but solitary, territorial predators—cannibals shaped by darker instincts. All of them trace their lineage to a single ancient source: the All-Mother, the primal matriarch who dreamt them into being. Here, in these tales, the unseen world breathes again, reminding humankind that they were never alone.

The Breeds and Tribes

In the shadowed balance of the world, where men and creatures struggle, as there is unyielding malice, so too endures a hidden purity. Bound by ancient laws, most are forbidden from interfering—yet some do. They heal the wounded, whisper the path beneath our feet, or linger unseen, offering love that asks for nothing in return. At times we glimpse them, radiant and unmistakable; at other times they pass in silence, veiled in the ordinary. Some call them spirits, others angels. Yet among us they may wear human form—saints to the devout, mages to the wary, or beings beyond either name, cloaked in mysteries older than memory.

The saga spans both history and myth. From the kingdoms of Bohemia, Wallachia, Hungary, and Transylvania to the imagined town of Targos, from palaces and castles rooted in history to the legendary Red Castle and the Four Watchtowers. Some places breathe like characters themselves—none more so than the dreaded Forbidden Forest, said to guard the grave of the All-Mother.

Timeline

The Timeline of V The First is more than a record of years—it is a living chronicle where the tides of history and the pulse of myth flow as one. It begins at the dawn of the 14th century, when famine, war, and faith reshaped a fractured Europe, and Basarab, the iron-willed warlord, rose to forge the first throne of Wallachia. Across the century, the saga follows the line of his blood to Prince Mircea, father of Vlad II and grandfather to Vlad III—Dracula—whose birth would cast a long shadow across legend and memory. Every milestone of kings and battles is set against the thunder of world-shaping events—the Great Famine, the Black Death, the shifting borders of empires—revealing how the fate of a dynasty intertwined with the destiny of an age.

Yet its roots dig deeper, reaching beyond the mortal chronicle to an older order: the grandeur of Imperial Greece, the rise and fall of Rome, and an age all but lost to time, when Revenant Lords ruled the hidden world alongside the proud Lycan clans. That ancient pact was broken by a cataclysmic war that drove the wolves to near extinction, leaving only whispers of prophecy that one day they might return. The timeline thus becomes a bridge between myth and memory, a sweeping arc of centuries in which kingdoms rise, fall, and are haunted still by powers moving unseen beneath the veil of history.

Myths & Truth

The saga of V The First is steeped in a tapestry of myths and lore that reach far beyond the mortal chronicles of kings and wars, drawing on the oldest whispers of the earth itself. At its heart lies the legend of the All-Mother, the primordial matriarch said to have dreamt the first creatures of the night into being—Revenants who fed on blood beneath the moon, Lycans who roamed as beasts and men, witches who bent the elements to their will, and solitary warlocks born of darker hungers. The story delves into the Great War of the Underworld, an age-old conflict that shattered the ancient alliance between the Children of the Night, casting the Lycan Lords into near extinction. Woven through this shadowed lineage are echoes of prophecy and sacred canons, the cryptic songs of oracles, and tales of celestial visitations that shaped faith and fear across empires. From the buried rites of Imperial Greece and the omens that haunted Rome’s rise and fall, to the forbidden grimoires guarded by the secretive Order of Saint Maximus, the saga uncovers the hidden histories that run parallel to mankind’s own. These legends—once dismissed as superstition—emerge as the unseen forces guiding destinies, proving that the boundaries between myth and memory are thinner than they appear.
